Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominations

90

The 2016 Film Independent Spirit Award nominations were announced earlier today and it was a great boost for two Oscar hopefuls, with multiple nominations for Spotlight (my thoughts coming soon) and Carol. Both films received Best Feature noms along with Beasts of No Nation !!!, Tangerine and Anomalisa.  I love the Beasts choiceand even though it is unlikely, I would be thrilled if it received some Oscar love. Screw the it is too violent or raw moniker they have going on. Come on Academy. I am little surprised not to see Room among the Best Feature choices. Brie Larson (Room ), Rooney Mara (Carol) and Cate Blanchett (Carol) were all nominated for Best Female Lead, Mara will be supporting for the Oscars. Below is a complete of list of nominees. It feels like the season is in full swing with Spirit’s eclectic and great choices this year, and especially with last night’s huge screening of Iñárritu’s The Revenant. I cannot wait to see that film. Enjoy!
