Boston Society of Film Critics Awards

The Boston Society of Film Critics have awarded, and a little bit unsurprising but  completely deserving, their best picture of the year award to Tom McCarthy’s brilliant Spotlight. The film is going to continue to rack up the accolades and should easily earn multiple Golden Globe nominations later this week. Todd Haynes won Best Director and his film Carol is one of the most lauded features of the year. The critics are raving over it and showing their support with wins throughout, especially from the New York Critics Circle. I love seeing Paul Dano receive Best Actor recognition (a tie with DiCaprio) and he has already won at the Gotham Awards and the New York Online Critics. The Best Actress race, at least from the critics, seems to be between Charlotte Rampling and Saoirse Ronan. Ronan is a lock for an Academy nod, but Rampling is on the cuff, but is getting much love during the early critics awards.
