ACE Eddie Award Winners

The big winners this weekend at the ACE Eddie Awards, which honor the best achievements in film editing, were Mad Max: Fury Road and The Big Short. No real surprise there and remember, Spotlight, which just won the Best Ensemble Cast at the SAG Awards last night, was not nominated but did garner a Best Film Editing nomination at the Academy Awards. That, along with the SAG win, really helps Spotlight and has created a tight race between The Big Short and Spotlight for Best Picture, with The Revenant stuck in third place for now. The only way The Revenant moves up into a three way race with the other two is if Alejandro G. Iñárritu wins the DGA Award. The Revenant was also not nominated for an Eddie, but did receive an Oscar nomination in editing. At the Oscars, Mad Max: Fury Road has a great shot at winning the Best Film Editing Oscar, but it is going to need a lot of help to win Best Picture. No shot in my book, especially with no Screenplay or Acting nominations. It is becoming really exciting at the end of the 2015 awards season. Oscar night should be very exciting. Below are a list of winners in all formats, both television and film.
